Leica TCS 4D Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope

Leica TCS 4D Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope

The Leica TCS 4D confocal laser scanning microscope is equipped with a Leitz DMIRB inverted research microscope, and an argon/krypton laser. Laser lines available are 488nm, 568nm and 647nm. This instrument provides high resolution images by using a variable pinhole for optical “z” sectioning and laser scanning. Various light microscopy imaging modules, including DIC, and phase contrast also can be performed. Full training can be provided in the use of this instrument and advice given in the preparation of samples.

For further details please contact Dr Christina Theodoropoulos

Image Analysis and Processing

Image Analysis and Processing

Various image processing software packages are available in the AEMF, including Image Pro Plus, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop Elements, Image Tool and ImageJ.

A HP5550 colour laser printer is available for high quality printing.

Light Microscopes

The AEMF houses several high quality light microscopes, including a Zeiss Jenaval light microscope (transmitted light), and a Nikon Labophot–Pol petrographic polarising microscope. A digital camera is fitted to these microscopes, allowing digital image capture and processing.
